Ron Kates joins Bert J. Friedman & Associates creating the pioneer leasing, management, and development company for commercial property in Beverly Robertson neighborhood.

Firm becomes exclusive leasing agents for new ten-story International Design Center on Beverly Boulevard, area's first high-rise concentration of designer showrooms. Building later known as the ICM Building when it houses top talent agents in the entertainment industry.

Firm becomes exclusive leasing agents for Robertson Plaza, a 200,000 square foot complex on Robertson Boulevard, another large facility dedicated to the design trade. Building today is the Pacific Theaters Building.

Instrumental in acquisition of parcels of land that would make up site, becomes exclusive leasing agent for newly constructed Pacific Design Center, a project firm conceived as first large scale wholesale mart dedicated to the design trade.

Firm renamed Ronald S. Kates & Company, continues providing exceptional services for existing as well as new commercial real estate clients.

Janet Vandever joins from hospitality industry, bringing her expertise specializing in leasing, sales, and property management. Janet, a Commercial Real Estate Broker and Vice-President since 2000, active in all aspects of brokerage, directs day to day operation and management of RSK&CO.

City of West Hollywood incorporates. Ron Kates is founding chairman of West Hollywood Visitors & Convention Bureau.

Ronald S. Kates & Company founds Avenues of Art and Design as business improvement district - Melrose Avenue, Beverly, and Robertson Boulevards.
